HD-880 Bluetooth Headset with Caller ID

Wednesday, September 20, 2006

One of the greatest phone-related innovations is the possibility to check the caller ID before answering the phone. This is particularly useful when we have to deal with marketers too invading or unsolicited phone calls in general.

All the cell phones have this feature but not always you are able to quickly reach the phone to look at the ID. For example you might be using a Bluetooth headset and your phone is in a pocket or it is too difficult to reach.

The Canadian company Helium Digital solved this problem by developing and making available the HD-880 Bluetooth Headset. The main characteristic that distinguishes this headset from the others is a (relatively) big OLED screen that displays the ID of the caller.

The display has space of eleven digits so scrolling is no longer required. It can also be rotated to let the user choose between the left and the right ear.

With this solution it is a lot easier to read the ID because all it takes is simply to grab the headset and read it. If you are not using it under a cap this method should be quicker than reaching for the cell phone in your bag or pocket.

The screen is also useful when you are not receiving a call because it displays instructions during setup, connection with Bluetooth compatible devices and usage of the HD-880 Headset. Talking about the latter the screen informs us during the pairing and connecting phases and also tells the connection status.

The other features of the headset are last number redial, microphone mute and voice dialing functionality. This Bluetooth device is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

The HD-880 Bluetooth Headset will be available starting from October at a suggested retail price of 89 Canadian dollars (US$ 79).
