BenQ announces the IMS-100 and the HHB-180

Tuesday, August 01, 2006

BenQ announced that this month they will put up for sale the Mobile Sound Set Bluetooth IMS-100, a portable speaker system, and the Bluetooth stereo headset HHB-180.

The 9.5 ounce (270 grams) IMS-100 will require four AA batteries to work or can be plugged to an outlet thanks to the included 6V connector. Being a portable system the IMS-100 is contained in its dimensions (180mm x 80mm x 40mm) while still providing enough power (it comes with a 3W amplifier) to satisfy its users.

The IMS-100 is Bluetooth enabled so it can be paired with any device that supports this technology. In particular the IMS-100 is compatible with the three following Bluetooth profiles:

- Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP)
- Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)
- Hands-Free Profile (HFP)

These profiles offer both the audio quality and the ability to remotely control the portable system via the paired Bluetooth device.

If your favorite music player is not compatible with Bluetooth there is always the line-in cable (included) to plug it into the IMS-100. Connection type aside the IMS-100 is a great solution to turn your mp3 player, cell phone or pc into a hi-fi system and you can also use it to hold phone conferences.

The Headset Bluetooth Stereo HHB-180 shares a lot of similarities with the IMS-100. It is compact (60.5 x 21 x 12 mm) and light (35 grams) and can be paired with Bluetooth devices or plugged via an included cable. As for the Bluetooth the headset support the aforementioned profiles plus the Headset Profile (HSP) that lets the user operate easily with the paired phone using the buttons on the headset.

Since both devices have yet to be released the pricing is not known at this moment but we will provide more info as soon as they become available.
