Bluetooth 2.0 EDR to go faster, have better range
Sunday, April 30, 2006Bluetooth, the most commonly used wireless technology, continues to give us new news. This time Bluetooth Special Interest Group has approved the specicications of the new Bluetooth 2.0 EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) protocol.
With the new Bluetooth protocol, the data transmission speeds will be up to 3 megabits per second, three times more than Bluetooth 1.1 - But that's not all - the Bluetooth range will be up to 100 meters (328 feet), that is ten times more than the Bluetooth 1.1 protocol.

Many people and companies speculated that Bluetooth was a dying technology, but we are beginning to see Bluetooth used as the primary means to connect devices wirelessly more and more every day.
